I'm excited to be starting this class. I have lots of ideas, but have always been nervous about taking the first step in putting the words on paper, rather making those first few keystrokes. I hope that this blog will serve as a useful medium for me to share my ideas and get feedback that will help me to become a better writer and educator.

Performance Poetry
Here is the link to Allan Wolf doing his performance poetry for an elementary class.
I'm 29 years old and I am married to my lovely wife Lisa of 5 years, who is also in this Creative Writing class. We have three wonderful children. Our oldest daughter Nevaeh is 4-1/2, our son McKail is 3 and our youngest daughter, Nadirah, is 14 months.
I currently teach middle school art and a 7th grade reading intervention class at the Chippewa Falls Middle School. I am also in the process of three projects: 1) Starting up a photography business. 2) Turning my thesis into a graphic novel article to submit for publication. 3) Taking Edgar Allen Poe's Poems and turning them into a graphic novel format. I hope that this will help other students who struggle with poetry, much the way I did. I was force fed poetry and made to understand the mechanics, but not given strategies on how to decipher meaning and what a true art form it really is.
I am a 1st semester PhD student in Art Education and I want to focus on merging the arts with literacy, a continuation of my Masters thesis which was partially written in a graphic novel format.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, photography, reading, watching movies, the TV show Dexter and of course listening to music.
